Another successful client event at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts! We invited our clients for a night out to see Banff Centre Mountain Film, one of the largest and most prestigious mountain festivals in the world!

It was a series of short documentary films (around 2 hrs. total) focused on “the great outdoors” and the unique accomplishments of people in nature.

• Two men embark on a bicycle excursion from Serbia back to their home in Germany

• An expert canoer who designs canoes, rafts, and inflatable boats, and started her own business at age 50 against great odds – including misogyny and ageism – with great success

• A man trying to save local turtle populations from extinction. They’re hunted by ravens and crows, but the birds have become too numerous because of humans feeding them, so the turtles are hunted in record numbers. He designs fake turtle shells that the birds try to eat – triggering an explosion of grape juice, which the birds hate. Amusing.

• A Hawaiian surfer who talks about the country’s history under colonialism, used as a plantation etc. Her family now designs surfboards strictly from native trees/plants

One common thread we found between each of the stories was the value in perseverance. Making a goal that sets a bar exceedingly high and striving to meet it in the face of adversity. It was extremely empowering and motivating to watch these artists do what they love to do through the ups and downs of nature.
